Classes / Seminars where you can learn Esperanto

Some people like self-study or tutored self-study, some do better in formal classes. As only few schools teach Esperanto, you will usually have to turn to the local Esperanto club or association - they regularly organize lessons. In order to locate the Esperanto club closest to you, try http://www.esperantoland.org/grupoj/ or write to your regional or national Esperanto association. These associations usually know better where clubs exist.

There is also the option of going to a seminar organized elsewhere, either as an intensive weekend course or even a language-learning holiday that can last a week or longer. NASK (North American Summer Esperanto Institute) is the biggest set of intensive Esperanto courses in North America and your local Esperanto association can tell you about others. If you're looking for a really special experience, you could even go to another country in order to combine learning Esperanto and a vacation. This would probably help you learn the language even better, because Esperanto would be the only language you and your fellow students have in common.

If you are planning to attend an Esperanto event such as the Universala Kongreso, Internacia Junulara Kongreso, or the like, you will also find courses offered during these events and you can take an official Esperanto examination.
