The Idea

Esperanto - the easiest and the richest

People all around the world share their thoughts and literature and music in Esperanto.

Esperanto is both the easiest and richest language in the world, the basis of a thriving international culture. Speakers of Esperanto can be found in every country of the world, from France to Japan, from Iceland to Chile, and they all share their thoughts and literature and music in Esperanto.

A world without borders, without hate

Esperanto is spoken in Israel as well as in Iran, in Russia and China as well as in the USA. Experience African chanting, Brazilian dancing, Korean martial arts, German beer and Nepalese cuisine, possibly all at the same meeting.

Experience an ease of communication across language borders as you have never felt it before. Immerse yourself, take part in the sharing of cultures. The world's diversity is at your fingertips.

No more cramming!

Forget about spending 3 years at high school trying to learn enough Spanish so you can ask for the bathroom in Mexico. Instead, spend 3 months learning Esperanto and you'll already be able to express much more (and in more countries).

Esperanto was specifically designed to be as easy to learn as possible, so that everybody everywhere, even with no linguistic talent, could communicate freely and comfortably, without awkwardness, just like in his native tongue. If you find it hard to memorize irregular verbs or the gender of nouns, Esperanto is for you, because Esperanto has done away with useless annoyances like that. But it has also made vocabulary-learning much easier, by allowing you to express much more with less words. If you learn 500 Esperanto words, it's the equivalent of having a vocabulary of at least 3000 words in Spanish.

Esperanto: the richest

Confronted with the evidence of Esperanto being incredibly easy, some people believe that it necessarily has to be dumbed-down, unable to express certain nuances that natural languages can express. But in fact the opposite is true: the same parts that make Esperanto easy to learn also make Esperanto rich in expression. In Esperanto, you can express anything that you can express in English, AND A LOT MORE.

There is no limit of concepts that require just one word in Esperanto and a long explanation in English. Hence, it is the language of choice for many poets, who write originally in Esperanto. There are more than 25,000 books in Esperanto as well as many regularly-published magazines and many diverse styles of music. Considering that Esperanto has only been around since 1887, this is perhaps the clearest outward sign of the fascination that Esperanto works on everybody who seriously wants to get to know it.
